-5- Item. 3. on Agenda. Peregrine generally, experimental cars, E2/HP.18.8.32., Hal/MJ22.8.32. and Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wstl/MA.18.8.32. Whilst considering the latest position as per H1/HP31.8.32. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} agreed that of the 6 chassis now being made:- 4 are to have crankshafts of 4.125" stroke and 2 " " crankshafts of 4.000" stroke not 4 with 4.000" stroke and 2 " 4.125" stroke. This decision was made because Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} stated that the successful car was the one with the 4.125" stroke. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} stated he had this in mind when at W.W. on the 21st July. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} and E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} agreed that it was an error on their part at that time to suggest 4 cars, each with 4" stroke. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} stated that the points in Hal/MJ.22.8.32. were being dealt with. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} read the Conference RHC{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer}10/BE.31.8.32. (copies are to be supplied to Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} and Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}) He said it would be clear from these details that RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} and the Works are unable to go ahead because they are awaiting design. In consequence, Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} will not be able to keep to the dates already given for the completion of the 6 cars and new dates cannot be decided upon until Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} and Design issue instructions to the Exptl. Dept. and Works. By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} promised to complete his instructions in 2 weeks' time. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} requires to have new completion dates as soon as possible. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wstl/MA.18.8.32. General Electrical Installation. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} is giving his attention to this matter. There is some doubt whether the Instrument Patch on the first six cars will be similar to that on Production cars. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} hopes that everything will be on the first six cars that will be on Production cars, on account of testing out. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} referred to a scheme that he has instituted to keep the cost of the "Peregrine" right and mentioned the help being given by E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} The latter said he was happy to co-operate - nothing had been done like it previously. | ||
