Thick Leaf Road Springs.

Hancock has established that he can compensate for the loss of interleaf friction on thick leaf springs by increasing the damper loads.

14" Drums.

He was not successful in getting 14" brake drums to function satisfactorily, and having twisted the axle, returned the parts to us for further experimental work in Derby. These have now been received and the investigation will be continued.

Fan Failure.

We have carried out experiments to determine why fan failure took place, and have established that the major cause of the failure is that the fan was out of balance. We understand that quite a lot of fans have left the Works that have not been balanced, and we recommend that these should be followed up and rectified. By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} is also instructing an improvement to fan spindles, which will add an additional factor of safety. We actually received one fan which was removed from a customer's car with a broken spindle before it smashed itself up, and we found that this fan was 2 1/4 oz.ins. out of balance.

Air Cooled Dynamo.

The large air cooled dynamo has not yet been sent out to Hancock; the windings are completed but we are waiting for cases. The small air cooled dynamo has been fitted to 1-B-IV and is running about satisfactorily.

Supercharger.

The Graham supercharger fitted to a Bentley was demonstrated to Sales in 3-B-IV on Friday last.

3.5" Bore Bentley.

The Bentley bored out to 3.5" bore was demonstrated to Sales on Friday last.
