To SG.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} from HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to PN.{Mr Northey} xry310 HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}A/TAJ.26.7.29. x 7941 x 7310 x 39919. 18-EX. ----- Replying to SG{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}7/D25.7.29. (1) COACHWORK. We did our best with this. I tried the car before it left Derby and was satisfied with it. (2) SPEEDOMETER. On Expl. cars we aim at having accurate speedometers. The speedometer on 18-EX was accurate. We attempted to adjust the speedometer to make it 5% fast but found it was impossible to alter it. We had no other speedometer to suit it. (3) We do not agree with PN{Mr Northey}'s remarks on the steering. We are certain that the modifications made by Whyman made no difference to the steering. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} has recently spent a week in France carrying out comparative tests in steering. We should be allowed to know something about this.
