CORROSION INHIBITOR - Phantom III.

As discussed with you, we wish to test out a corrosion inhibitor (known as "No-Co-Ro {C. C. Rose - Export Manager} ") for the water system on four Phantom III customers 'A' series chassis.

We have used this inhibitor in experimental Phantom III cars (without iron hot spot boxes) and have formed the opinion that it reduces corrosion of the aluminium considerably, certainly it has had no ill effects, except a tendency to cause deterioration of the inside of the rubber water connections. Accordingly we wish to get further experience and are selecting A series chassis for this purpose because they have untreated iron hot spot boxes fitted and are known to be subject to corrosion troubles.

When suitable cars are available (particularly if they are in for a top decarbonisation) we wish you to inform Rm {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} /Std. so that he can examine the water system as the car comes in.

We then want you to clean out the cooling system by flushing etc. in particular the filler cap, steam valve and inside of top tanks should be cleaned as far as possible. The top hose connections should be changed for new ones.

The coolinh system should then be refilled with a mixture of tap water and 'No-Co-Ro {C. C. Rose - Export Manager} ' the proportion being ½ pt. No-Co-Ro {C. C. Rose - Export Manager} to 5½ gallons water (Phantom III water capacity)

A quart tin of this "No-Co-Ro {C. C. Rose - Export Manager} " inhibitor should then be supplied to the chauffeur or owner of the car and if the water system is refilled or topped up at any time, a mixture of "No-Co-Ro {C. C. Rose - Export Manager} " and water, in proportions of 1 to 10 should be used.

We then wish to examine the water system of the cars selected after a period of 6 - 9 months to determine the effect of this inhibitor.

Rm {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} /Std.
