ORGANISATION OF CLAN FOUNDRY FIRE BRIGADE.

On Friday a practice fire drill was carried out. It was evident that the present arrangement of collecting members of the Fire Brigade by lorry is ineffective, owing to the time taken to bring the personnel to the Factory.

In the future, only the two men immediately adjacent to the Factory, E.Buckingham Snr., and Jnr.{Charles L. Jenner}, will be called out by one of the Home Guards on duty.

The remainder of the Fire Brigade will come on duty at their own discretion if they see incendiary bombs falling in the locality.

This means that the Watchman on duty, three members of the Home Guard and two members of the Fire Brigade will be in action within a few minutes of the dropping of the first incendiary bomb.

A number of the fire extinguishers have been found to be unsatisfactory and these are being replaced.

Every night, when the Home Guard come on duty, they will place a ladder against the outside of the building, in a position which will be clearly marked, so that it will provide a vantage point to observe incendiaries which may fall upon the roof of the building.

A request has been put in for steel helmets for members of the Fire Brigade.
