re. SEIZURE OF CARBURETTER THROTTLES - 20-HP.

With reference to the conversation I had with you a short time ago to the effect that we were having trouble with the seizure of the butterfly valve spindles, I send you herewith a sample of one as requested.

We do not wish to have any further clearance at this point, otherwise leakage may cause faulty carburation, but we would like the matter to have consideration as to whether the most suitable metals are being used, consideration being given to the experience we had with the petrol taps as used on the Armoured Cars.

After examining the sample will you please arrange to pass this spindle on to Sft.{Mr Swift} so that he can replace same. I would also like to draw his attention to the revetting of the control pins, which seems to be a very poor job, and either shows bad fitting, faulty material used for these pins, or faulty design.

I shall be glad if Sft.{Mr Swift} will let me know what is to be done to overcome this trouble.
