To EY. from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} -2- E2/G12718 Contd. fixed permanently to one end, and the complete handle and shaft, of which only one will be required per 'plane on a two-engined 'plane, is taken away and stored in the body of the aeroplane when not in use. The bearing through which it is inserted on the engine bearer, can be made from the fittings already existing, by the insertion of a spherical bush of suitable bore. The starter shaft brackets used on the tubular engine bearings have an extension which carries a switch lever for throwing the hand starter into gear. This extension should be cut off.
