1331 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}3/MH.{M. Huckerby} 3rd. July, 1939. The Avon India Rubber Co. Ltd., Melksham, WILTS. For the attention of Dr. Mackay. Dear Sirs, We cannot just at present send you a wheel of the type we shall be using for the first batch of production cars. As soon as we have a set embodying all the modifications we have made we will send one to you so that you can make sure that the rim band etc. are a correct fit. As regards the Pilote tyres, for diplomatic reasons we are asking Michelin's whether they would mind us letting you have one of their tyres for investigation, as we do not wish to do anything which could offend them. As soon as we hear from them we will write you further. We have decided for the time being to give up the idea of running on solid tyres on the dynamometer because we get sufficiently satisfactory results in using Track Racing covers. Yours faithfully, for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
