With reference to your EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}/Thn.5/T19.12.31 giving a report from your tester W.Goose at Martlesham.

The powdery substance which he observed on the braiding of the wire is simply the resin, out of the synthetic resin varnish which is used for painting round the ends of the cables, drying and powdering away from the surface. This has no action at all on the life of the ignition wires and can be entirely ignored. We have noticed this ourselves some time ago and have arranged with Mr. Brock that his dept. shall only paint the cable where absolutely necessary.
