re 40 m.m. Naval Gun type BD.{Mr Berend}

On WPL.119 (original attached to Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/HH's.copy of this memo.) we shew the fixing for the aiming handle. We have retained the same diameter tube as on the experimental gun, as if we use the 1 1/4 diameter tube as on the firing handle, the boss on the cradle becomes so big in diameter that it interferes with the spot facing of the bolt bosses.

Should a fatter handle be required we suggest that we should attempt to find a proprietary cycle or motor cycle handle grip.

We see no justification in making a special rubber handle for this job at the moment. We should be glad if Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/FJH.{Fred J. Hardy - Chief Dev. Engineer} could locate for us a suitable handle grip when we will detail the tube to suit.
