IMPROVED PHANTOM.

The following is a list of improvements which we say must be incorporated in the design of an improved Phantom car. Other improvements are possible, dependent upon general opinions and a further list will therefore follow at a later date.

ENGINE.
(1) Much larger and more accessible oil filling orifice.
(2) Oil filter so placed that it can be removed for cleaning without the necessity of emptying the sump and accessible from under the bonnet.
(3) Engine oil drain plug accessible from under the bonnet.
(4) More accessible and much larger engine water drain tap.
(5) More accessible oil relief valve unit.
(6) Increased engine oil capacity and cooling. important
(7) An improvement upon the present Hardy fabric coupling, which is not as reliable as it might be.
(8) Automatic or centralised clutch thrust lubrication.
(9) More silent tappets.

BRAKES.
(1) Simplified brake lay out. Deletion of shafts, levers etc. with consequent elimination of drip plugs.
(2) Automatic adjustment all round. The present adjustment is very difficult especially the rear.
(3) Steel brake shoes to overcome the effect of shoe expansion due to heat.
(4) Some provision for eliminating brake thumps.
(5) Brake area increased to 125 sq.in/ton at least.
(6) Lighter operation.
