Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}1/KT. Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., DERBY. October 24th, 1933. Attention: Mr. E.W. Hives. Dear Sirs, We thank you for your letter of the 17th instant with reference to the proposed automatic clutch control on your 25 h.p. car and we note that you would like us to carry out the fitting here. We should be very pleased to do this and it would save us a considerable amount of time if you could arrange for the car to be sent down with the inlet manifold already provided with some form of take-off to which we can couple our vacuum pipe. Our standard vacuum lines push over a 1/2" o.d. pipe, or alternatively, the manifold could be tapped to take one of our standard elbows as shown on the enclosed blue print. We write to you because it has occurred to us that you might have standard fittings which could be adapted to this purpose or possibly even a suitable manifold already drilled to take a fitting. We hope that all the parts will be ready by the the present week. Yours faithfully, BENDIX LIMITED, C.H.L. WYNNE, Engineering Department. blue print RMS.
