REC. 8 606. RM {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} /AFM. {Anthony F. Martindale} 4/MH. {M. Huckerby} 28.3.38. TIPPING SHOES - WRAITH REAR BRAKES. 26.G.VI has run 15,000 miles with the tipping shoes in the rear brakes set solid. No squeaks have occured. No other car in the Experimental Garage has tipping shoes fitted, and with any reasonable lining (Thermoid, B.Z., MR.3) squeaks do not occur. We did originally have squeaks with Ferodo F.Z. We consider that there is no necessity to continue to fit tipping shoes on the rear brakes after the 1st. 100 chassis, and we are waiting for a drawing of some steel rear shoes without tipping shoes.
