Test report and comparison of the Kismet '31 Tyre Tester against the Schrader gauge.

KISMET '31 TYRE TESTER. We have recently had submitted to us for test purposes a Kismet '31 Tyre Tester. The makers of this accessory are William Turner & Bros. Ltd, Sheffield. (the makers of the much used Kismet tyre pump). The gage works on the same principle as the latest Schrader gauge with the exception that the spring is in tension in the Kismet gauge whereas in the Schrader it is in compression. It is superior to the Schrader in several ways - (1) It is a much better made job. (2) It is easier to read. (3) It is more convenient to handle (4) It is more accurate. We find that Schrader gauges vary very considerably and are a very rough indication of tyre pressure. We have tried 4 Kismet tyre testers and they all agree exactly through-out their entire range. In addition the Kismet has the advantage that it is cheaper by 8d. and is British made. We are sending Ey. a dismantled gauge for his exam-ination as compared with the Schrader.
