A.{Mr Adams} Robotham, Esq., Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., Derby. Dear Mr. Robotham, Further to your visit to Hardman Brown with Mr. Blackith, Mr. Blackith's view is that it would be advisable if possible to try and get the final patent in as early as we can to see whether this has been anticipated in any way, or to see what opposition we are likely to get. One would not get any opposition at all until the final goes in. Then if there is further development along this line afterwards it might be the subject of an extra or amended patent, but it certainly would be better to get in a complete, even though amendments were added later, to discover whether the trade in general had any opposition to the patent. I trust you will agree with me on this and, if you do, then I hope you and Blackith will be able to collaborate on getting the finals through, because I don't think it is much good us trying to make any effort to put it on the market until we know whether we are going to come up against a lot of outside opposition. One usually does meet with some opposition, but by using a useful patent agent, this can generally be overcome or got round. Yours sincerely, Jhn. Howlett | ||
