on Castor oil for two hours, the appearance of them is like
new; but if we run on Mineral oil there is definite signs
of wear and tearing of the teeth.

Since we have run into our trouble we have made
enquiries with other manufacturers and we find that they have
had rather similar experience. That is, they have started
off, after having run a type test satisfactorily on Mineral
oil, but they found when they tried to run new engines on
Mineral oil they had considerable difficulty. They have now
got over their trouble by running all engines for a considerable
time on Castor oil before they run them on Mineral oil.

We are trying various compounded oils but so
far have not obtained any results equal to Castor oil.

The "R" engines for Sir Henry Segrave's boat are
now about to be delivered.

We are able to obtain 1800 HP. at 2850 R.P.M.
without the help of the air intake effect. The s/c gears
have been modified to give us the extra boost.

The S.6 machine has been flying again at Felixstowe.
It was noticeable that we have had serious trouble with petrol
building up in the blower. This did not occur at Calshot, the
reason being that the air temperature was much warmer at that time

The new carburetters in the "Vee" are actually being
type tested by the A.I.D. at Derby. We have had considerable
difficulty in getting each of the four carburetters to perform
consistently but we believe that now our troubles are over.
