Re. Standardisation of New Features.

The present position is that 23-EX is running in France on a 10,000 mile test which will shortly be completed.

It has on it a number of new features with a view to standardisation, and the majority of these features, I think, are also on the left-handed American chassis.

The point which I should like to see settled as soon as possible after the test, is, however, exactly what new features it is proposed to standardise and at what point of production they can be introduced, and what the position will be at that date in regard to production of left-handed chassis for America.

What I really have in mind is that, if we work to Mr. Fuller's latest request, i.e. to commence deliveries of American left-handed chassis in January, what will be the position of English chassis production at that date so far as concerns new features on the American chassis which have to be on the English chassis so as to make the two agree from a standardisation point of view.

For instance apart from what is on 23-EX there is, I understand from a memo. from By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer}, the new type sub-frame known as the universal type, to be tested on the second experimental left-hand chassis. If this is successful and is to be introduced for America, will it be possible at the same date to introduce it for England.

I cannot quite understand this question of sub-frames for the American chassis because according to all arrangements and the contract no subframes are to be supplied.

I thought that perhaps it would be aswell if you could have a preliminary discussion in regard to the points raised above so that we could perhaps settle something on my next visit.
