To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from BJ. Standardisation Sheets. BJ12/E18/10/26 I have forwarded a number of standardisation sheets to you that I signed to-day, but, as they do not state whether the introduction of the alterations will necessitate any scrap, I always take it that no scrap will be entailed unless I hear to the contrary. In regard to the standardisation sheet attached, is the difference in the cost always stated on standardisation sheets before they are initialled by all the officials? For instance, R.{Sir Henry Royce} might consider that it was advantageous for us to use a special material but, if he heard that this would mean a considerable increase in cost, he might say that it was not worth doing, bearing in mind that every alteration in our two chassis which costs £1 is a loss of £1,000 profit to us for ever more.
