- 18 - This clip is used with no less than four rebound leaves on the Bentley rear spring. Unfortunately the eyes in the spring leaves which hold the clip appear to be the weakest portion of the clip though we have proved to our own satisfaction by tests on the bumping rig that rebound leaves apparently prolong the life of the spring. Another type of spring with top leaves above the main plate which is sometimes confused with the rebound leaf spring previously described is the reversed leaf spring. Actually in this latter spring the reversed top leaves reduce the effective spring rating. They also increase the internal friction of the spring very considerably. A spring having reversed leaves does not require contd. [Image 1 text]: BENTLEY 6 CYL. CAR REAR SPRING. [Image 2 text]: SPRING WITH REBOUND LEAVES. [Image 3 text]: REVERSED LEAF SPRING. | ||
