Section 8000 - Starter Motor.

CL.155 (FV.150,033) Installation of a 5" dia.C.A.V. Starter Motor on a B.40 Mk.2 Series Engine.

Reason for Scheme.

To show the installation of a 5" dia. C.A.V. Starter motor on a B.40 Mk.2 series Engine, and to ascertain the clearances thereof, between the starter motor and engine. The scheme also shows the amount of turn the motor has to go through when the motor is being withdrawn from the housing.

Associated Schemes.

PL.6567 - Rationalised Starter motor mounting particulars. 'B' range Mk.2 Engines.

PL.6356 - Commonised, Screened and Waterproofed - 5" Starter motor. W.D. 'B' Series Engine Mk.2.

Description.

The starter motor has an SAE.1 mounting flange, for coupling up to existing clutch casing. The starter motor lies at an angle of 55° to the horizontal. A rubber ring is provided in the starter motor mounting spigot to prevent the ingress of water into the clutch housing at joint between starter mounting flange and the housing. This scheme is generally similar to PL.6567.
