Hancock - Head Chateauroux}1/N.3.10.38. Re: B.82.GA, mileage 35,481, Last top Decarb: 20,000. Re: Thin Oil. We carried out a road test of 100 miles with Mr.McLeod's old Bentley B.82.GA, first with the oil he used (Mobiloil A) then with Mobiloil Arctic, with a view to seeing what, if any, troubles would arise. The following is the test report:- 100 mile test on Mobiloil A.{Mr Adams} Oil consumption 400 m.p.g. No roughness in engine, except bearing thump, noticeable in all gears from 1500 to 2700 revs. Oil Pressures:- 5 lbs idling. 16 " at 30 m.p.h. 23 " " 60 " 26 " " 80 " 29 " " 90 " 100 mile test on Mobiloil Arctic. Oil consumption 320 m.p.g. Still no roughness in engine, but thump is more noticeable. Oil Pressures:- 3 lbs idling. 12 " at 30 m.p.h. 18 " " 60 " 22 " " 80 " 23 " " 90 " All oil pressures taken after doing 90 m.p.h. water temperature according to thermometer on car, normal running 65 to 68°C, fast driving 70°C.
