Herewith results of our examination of the
used Castrolite, unused Castrolite and the deposits which
you submitted.

Used. Unused.

Open flash point °C......... 245 243.
Organic acidity (oleic %).... 0.11 0.11
Saponification value %....... 0.22 0.15
Pour point °C............... -42 -41
Sulphur (Copper strip method.. Satisfactory. Satisfactory.
Ash content............... 0.038 0.023
Analysis of ash........... Chiefly iron Chiefly iron
oxide. oxide.

Viscosity curves and specific gravity-
temperature results are appended herewith.

Compared with the unused oil, the used oil
has suffered very little change, and should give satisfactory
results if employed again.

Deposits.

Each of these consisted of carbon and
iron oxide; the following are the amounts of carbon found:-
