-2- Steering. This is one of the roller follower type and is lighter both shunting and on corners. Gearbox. A lower direct drive provides better acceleration in traffic and on slow roads. On a fast run or when not in a hurry overdrive gives all the advantages of a high geared car, such as, reduced engine fuss and better petrol consumption. If the overdrives on production cars are found to be inaudible - this is not yet known - a point can be made of two silent ratios instead of only one. The increased life of the engine bearings is of importance to R.R. When the alternatives were an overdrive or higher axle ratio for this purpose it was considered that the former would be easier to "put over". The Autostrada leaflet in the Bulletin will be able to be cancelled or modified with a fanfare of trumpets. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} | ||
