STEERING WOBBLES.

We attach herewith some correspondence and sketches from America with reference to Steering Wobbles, on which we should very much like your remarks.

We do not think that friction as applied on either of these sketches will always cure a real steering wobble.

Mr Hives will shortly be reporting to you that he can have steering wobbles even though there is a plain thrust washer in one of the pivots.

Though we know it will not cure all cases, we suggest that the best immediate thing to do is to supply America with these plain thrust washers in one of the pivots. Perhaps also running the tyres at less pressure might reduce the wobbling tendency.

We also attach some suggestions as to the cause of steering wobbles, in case they may be of any interest.
