(2) The two centre studs holding the exhaust manifold have stretched considerably and we should not be at all surprised if they break any day. We will have to put up with it if they do as we have no new studs here to replace them. We have examined the brake drums and they have not become any more scored than when we first reported. There has not been the wear on the drums as was on 25-EX, but we have fully taken up the chauffeurs adjustment on the rear whilst no adjustment has been necessary on the front, that is why we urgently telegraphed for the lever to give increased front braking. We have received the springs for the spring drive and the bakelite pads for the radiator, also the lever for the increased front braking, which we are now fitting. In your memo you have not mentioned the port at which the food stuffs are arriving at, but take it that it will be the Southampton-Le Havre route, as it is the nearest route to Test Wittering. The knocking we have had from the torque reaction dampers has been caused by the initial stickiness of the fabric washers. These require lubricating as we found out on 25-EX and on the gearbox support on 19.G.IV. GWHancock G.W.H. | ||
