Broken axle parts, specifically the locking plate and crown wheel, on a B.44.FB.

Re: your memo BY/SB.{Mr Bull/Mr Bannister}9/MG.14.6.39. Herewith is a sketch of the parts that broke, and were damaged on the axle of B.44.FB. It was assumed that the locking plate broke and fouled the nuts holding the crown wheel, or it may be that the studs failed first holding the crown wheel, and the nuts fouled the locking plate and broke it up.
