13709 To BN{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} from DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c. to HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to BX. RE FITTING BONNET CLIPS CLOSER TOGETHER. In reply to your BN{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington}6/W26/8/19 the way we read Mr Elliott's memo E2/G30/5/19 Mr Royce does not wish immediately to alter the position of the bonnet catches but prefers to try the new catch which we instructed in our memo DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}6/CB18/7/19. Our reason for reading in this way is the reference in the paragraph to the mud guard valance, which indicates a definite longitudinal position. If you wish to try the bonnet catches nearer together we suggest that an experimental bonnet should be fitted in this way and tried before steps are taken to put it into production, and on receiving word from you we will put such an experiment into the shops, but we are certainly under the impression that Mr Royce is not looking for this at the present moment.
