X349 To E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} From Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson} c.c. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} c.c. Sft.{Mr Swift} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson}7/KT.14.6.33. CHASSIS - NOISY OIL PUMPS. We are always having recurring epidemics of noisy oil pumps on cars. Various things are done to the oil pumps, but we can so far say that none of the 'cures' have proved entirely satisfactory, and a great deal of money has been wasted on the job. We have recently received a note from Sft.{Mr Swift} in which he states that he had twenty-two noisy oil pumps during the past few weeks. When we were troubled with the Phantom some little time ago, RIC. carried out a number of tests on helical gears. We attach a copy of his note on the subject. If exception is taken to the thrust of the helical gear, the double helical type might be considered. We should like your views on the subject however so that we can work with you to get production out of this trouble. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson} | ||
