x5840. To Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} From G.W.H. Hotel de France, Chateauroux, France. 24/12/30. Re Chassis 18-G-IV. We yesterday carried out tests on the Rear Shock Damper to verify the results taken at Cricklewood. The results were very similiar to those tests taken. 1.st Test With valve drilled .055", valve ball left .010". Result O.K. 2.nd Test Air vent enlarged to .156" diameter, ball valve restricted to .004", standard valve .031" hole. Result, free from knocks but movement can be felt at end of lever. 3.rd Test Air vent enlarged to .156" diameter, ball valve restricted to .004", with undrilled valve. Result O.K. 4.th Test Ball taken out of valve, standard valve fitted .031" hole. Shock damper filled with oil. Result O.K. G.W.H. [Signature] | ||
