BODY WORK.

As the result of the discussion which arose out of my memo By.5/N.19.7.38, in which it was pointed out that the second Bentley 50 body would be a good point at which to put into force my proposal, that Sales should control all body work including experimental requirements, Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} remarked that most of the improvement in body design had emanated from the chassis design side and it was not desirable that Derby should cease to interest themselves in this matter as he felt that the Company would suffer if Ev{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}'s experience and ability in this direction were not utilized.

The disability which Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} had laboured under for some years was emphasised and that it was not justified by the facts, upon which Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} agreed to withdraw any strictures he may have made as they were evidently the result of not knowing all the story. It was agreed that Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} should carry on with our body work requirements and improvements as he did during R's regime.

This clarifies the position and removes a disability under which Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} and with him the design side have laboured for some time.
