Two alternative production plans concerning Phantom material, U.2. series, and Spectre models for the Olympia Show.

| L4554 Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} PHANTOM MATERIAL. 12.2.35. We have already in hand for U.2. Series ........... 25 chassis. We cannot promise SpectreCodename for Phantom III for Olympia and there appears to be two alternatives:- (1) Make U.2. Series into ............. 50 sets by instructing 25 sets of outstanding material we already have 25 sets of billets and bars, and continue to make at 4 per week, which would mean the last chassis would go from Works to Sales week-ending July 20th. Sales require a period of three months (12 weeks) to clear up, which brings us to October 12th. Sales, however, may need more than three months to clear up. Olympia Show will, I think, be opened by about October 10th. Further, it seems advisable to order additional material to take us to the end of the year at 4 per week from Works to Sales. This would mean our ordering a further .... 92 sets over and above the 25 sets mentioned, making a total of 117 sets to be ordered. Sales require a period of three months (12 weeks) to clear up which brings us to the third week in March, 1936. If, however, Sales would like us to order further material so that they can clear up the whole of the job by the end of this year, it would only be necessary to order a further 44 sets (in addition to the 25 mentioned above, making a total of 69 sets), the last chassis of which would go from Works to Sales week-ending October 5th, and allow Sales three months (12 weeks) to clear them up by the end of the year. (2) Finish up the 50 sets for U.2. Series, and then sell no more P.II's, and announce to the public, or shortly afterwards, that we are bringing out a new 12-cylinder car, and take orders for deliveries to be made at a later date. These 50 sets, as far as Sales are concerned, would be cleared up somewhere about October 12th as mentioned in Item (1). | ||
