CONDITION OF 9-G-111 CHASSIS
AFTER 10,000 MILES.

The condition of the above chassis after 10,000 miles trial was exceptionally good. We give below in detail the condition of the various units.

ENGINE UNIT - G.1356.

Crankcase A bearings.
Top half crankcase quite sound. All cyl. studs and nuts etc. quite tight. Lower half crankcase sound. Groove worn along the outside due to pumping of brake ropes. The rope position has since been modified. No.2. cap bearings - metal broken away round dowel hole. Nos. 5 and 6 slightly scored. With the exception of these defects all other bearings in excellent condition. Main bearing liners O.K.

Crankshaft.
General condition of crankshaft very good. No appreciable wear on the journals or pins with the exception of Nos. 1, 4 and 7 which are ridged slightly in centre due to the annular groove in the main bearing. Spring Drive end of Crankshaft scored due to the fidgetting of spring drive. Each end of the crankshaft was made up with caked oil.

Spring drive.
Slight score in hub bore due to it fidgetting on crankshaft through not being locked up sufficiently tight otherwise in very good condition.

Connecting rods.
General condition of rods is so good that they can be again fitted up on crankshaft for further service. The bedding on all rods is good being no signs of flaws or cracks in metal, and oil pipes etc. are quite sound - no appreciable wear in the small end bushes.

Piston.
Pistons are in good condition showing no signs of picking up. All rings show perfect bed and are free in grooves. No appreciable wear on gudgeon pins. Nos. 1 and 3 have been slack and show signs of fidgetting in pistons but condition good.

Cylinder.
Cyl. head fitted with copper tubes which are quite sound.
