The general impression I got of this car in driving same from London to Derby was that of a poor Rolls-Royce which had high compressions, heavy pistons which were not scientifically fitted causing piston knocks, light flywheel, and no slipper drive.. Axle compared with one of our early 1700 type tubular axles with 8's pitch teeth which at that time we should have passed as Good and the best we could at the time produce, but which we should now only call ^Very Fair As regards the gear box The side shaft did not seem to cause any noise, I understand there is no side shaft running when the gear lever is in the neutral position.
