            You will notice from the
minutes of the Committee Meetings that
Mr Platford has had an isolated case
or so of these heavy couplings giving
trouble from knocking, notwithstanding
the fact that only about 4 thous. clear-
ance in the balls was allowed.
            Instructions have been issued for this
clearance to be still further reduced
and Mr Wormald has in hand arrangements
for the accurate grinding of the
spheres.

            In connection with this matter
Mr Burt forwarded to Derby some weeks
ago the attached scheme which has a
bearing on this point, and I thought
it sufficiently good to forward to
you for your criticism.
