X. 46175 E.J.C. J.D. 74. 15-4-30 X4617S. Failure of cell in SV Battery (177). No. 3 cell on Exide has failed in this battery whilst working as a spare cell. It was originally in 84 battery & altogether it has been on our bench life test 40 months & has ran 31,051 miles on the road. The negative plates were good. The positive plates were fair have lost a comparatively small amount of active material, but the grids were very weak. The wood separators were perfect. The ebonite separators were fair these having worn thin in places but were of the slotted perforation type. The amount of sediment did not reach up to the plates this being only 1/2" deep. The plates were very slightly buckled. (cont'd) | ||
