Dear Mr Hives,

I find that my holiday has at last come to an end and I have now to think about my future work. I should like to know upon what terms you are willing to give me employment. I am naturally now most interested in the question of wages.
I was away from home when the certificate and book arrived and so I could not immediately acknowledge their receipt.
If Mr Rawbotham is still interested in lubrication and viscosity the enclosed advertisement of the book on the Mechanical Properties of Fluids may be useful.

Yours truly,
W. Learmonth
