Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/AFM{Anthony F. Martindale}6/R.{Sir Henry Royce} 1180 29th June, 1937. J.N. Longley, Esq., Ferodo Limited, Chapel-en-le-Frith. Dear Mr. Longley, BRAKE SQUEAKS. There seems to be a considerable difference between the bonding media used by you and by the makers of certain American linings. Your linings develop a glaze, some of the American linings do not. MR, R.A.D.13 and V.M.20 all tend to glaze. With MR, this leads to squeaks, with R.A.D.13 to loss of efficiency, with V.M.20 to clutch judders. As far as we know, the American linings have a good life figure. It would be a great help to us if you would agree to supply us with half a gallon of the resinous MR. bonding material, in order that we can compare it with other people's bondings. I hope you will be able to agree to supply us with this material. Yours truly, | ||
