EXPERIMENTAL CARS - SHUTTERS.

We consider that at least half of the experimental cars should be fitted with the unpolished type of Staybright shutters i.e. the shutter will be fitted in its descaled condition, which gives a matt surface appearance, and should be equally untarnishable with the polished.

The suggestion is made in order that we should have positive evidence to put forward to Sales to demonstrate that it is not necessary to polish the shutters when Staybright is used.

We are suggesting to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} that we should supply descaled shutters for the radiators on one or two of the Trials cars, so that Sales would get first hand evidence on the subject.

The present position of the polished shutters being called for on production was fixed by Sales, who after considering the suggestion of the unpolished descaled Staybright shutters turned it down because they were not convinced that it would maintain its original appearance by merely washing down with water.
