Answering your E.5/HP.26.6.33., re the above we would say that the dynamo now fitted to the 20/25 tank engines definitely cannot deal with the proposed additional 100 A.H. Battery. The charging rate is only equivalent to the Winter charge rate on the 20/25 chassis which we estimate is only sufficient for ignition, side and tail and occasional starter discharge with a reasonable margin, in the case of the tanks, to ensure that the battery shall never be in a completely discharged state. This is important as the tanks rely principally on electric starting and absolutely on battery ignition. The only scheme practicable for this two battery arrangement would be the vibrator control. Providing the radio transmitting discharges are not frequent and heavy the 20/25 size shunt machine should be satisfactory but otherwise there will be no alternative to the adoption of the larger machine.
