86056 To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} re Young Accumulators. Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}6/E14.7.33 About a year ago Sir Malcolm Campbell raised the question of our testing Young accumulators. PN{Mr Northey} took the matter up with you and, after going into the matter you replied as per Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst.2/AD.16.6.32. I find from our records that we let the matter drop at that date as we thought it was the best way out, but unfortunately Sir Malcolm has returned to the matter again and I enclose copy of letter written to him on the 6th, which was based on the memo. from your department quoted above. He apparently sent this to the Young Accumulator Company and now sends me the enclosed copy of letter from them, with a covering letter saying that he would be very much obliged if we would carry out further tests with one of their latest batteries as he feels sure that we should be fully satisfied with their life. The position is made a little more difficult by the fact that Bentley Motors used to use Young Accumulators but I believe you have already concluded arrangements with Peto & Radford. I should be glad if you would give the matter your consideration and let me have your remarks so that I can reply to Sir Malcolm's request. Sg.{Arthur F.
