(2) As regards the external connection the original intention was to use a strip metal tab, and I think this is better than the flexible shewn, as the latter is liable to break off where soldered. The top end of the condenser is insulated with a pressed cap of suitable material which should have a hole only large enough to pass the flex. The bottom end of the condenser sits on a bow spring washer and the assembly is held together while the lid{A. J. Lidsey} is soldered in position.
