With further reference to your Hm{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs}/FHA1O/EW23.9.26. regarding 12-volt Exide Battery (filled with acid) recently returned to Makers on account of same having one defective cell.

The Chloride Electrical Storage Co.Ltd., have now made an examination of the battery in question, and we give below a copy of their report in full for your information and action as necessary :-

"Further to our letter of the 27th. ult., in"
"reference to the 6 RR.5-1 battery which you"
"advised us you were returning ex Chassis No.76-HC,"
"we beg to inform you that the battery has arrived"
"at these Works, and we have had an examination"
"made by our Engineers."

"The condition of the elements of this battery"
"leads us to believe that it has been somewhat"
"unfortunate as regards the treatment which it"
"has received, and we beg to suggest that you"
"communicate with the owner in order to guard"
"against the battery being incorrectly treated in"
"the furture."

"Having regard to the short while the battery has"
"been in service, we are prepared, in this"
"instance, to put the battery in order for you free"
"of charge, and are proceeding with the work at"
"once. We will endeavour to despatch the battery"
"back to you within the course of a few days, and"
"we trust that no repetition of the trouble will"
"occur."
