With reference to yours Hm{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs}/FHA13/EW21.9.26, concerning 12-volt Exide Battery (filled with acid) which we returned to Makers owing to same having four defective cells.

The Chloride Electrical Storage Co.Ltd. have now had an opportunity of establishing what has brought this defect about, and below we give you a copy of their full report for your examination and necessary action :-

"Further to our letter of the 23rd. ult., we "have received at our Works the 6 RR 5-1 battery "which you have returned to us ex Chassis 37-RC.{R. Childs} "The internal condition of this battery leads us "to believe that high temperatures have been "experienced, and we would suggest that the "battery has been overcharged.

"However, in view of the comparatively short while "that the battery has been in service we are "prepared to bear the cost of reconditioning it "ourselves, and have therefore instructed our Works "to fit the necessary new plates.

"On completion of the work the battery will be "returned to you by goods train, carriage paid, and "we trust that it will be found to be entirely "satisfactory in future."

Wd.{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead}

This battery has been in use for 10 months.
