RE WHITTLE FAN BELTS.

A trouble which I have experienced with two of these belts is that they have become noisy and cause a slight knock which seems from first impression to come from the engine gears. The fault is due to the belt forming a kink owing to one side of the pair of links setting in more than the other. This kink causes a knock every time it comes in contact with the fan pulley.

In all other respects these belts are so far still more satisfactory than the Wata Wata belts we are now using.

The trouble explained above is one which can be readily overcome by replacing the link and I think that until we have found some better belt than this we should still recommend them and also put a note in the Instruction books as regards this trouble. E.P.
