The car came into Kingsbury three days ago with starter motor trouble. The failure of the starter motor was dust and dirt. Whilst attending to the starter motor, the tester pointed out that no oil was shewing in the engine sump. The sump was drained, the amount of oil being approximately one quart. The chauffeur's attention was drawn to this shortage of oil. The engine base was filled up and the oil pressure was up to standard when the car left. No 5 rod had seized, breaking the rod and piston, cylinder bore and crankcase. This car was in an accident during last October and dealt with by the Repair Dept. October 9th. A new crankcase was fitted, bearings, con rods, of the latest mods, crankshaft drilled, but a small oil pump was retained. The engine is being sent back to the Works. The condition of the remaining bearings are good but loose in the housings. You may be interested to see the condition of the engine. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/GWH.{George W.
