TO DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} FROM R.{Sir Henry Royce} C. to BG. HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} ORIGINAL R3/M6.5.27. Handwritten Notes: X8380 (struck through) X5380 X7380 X2066 LOWERING OF CHASSIS FRAME. It is quite evident that we must on any future chassis get the frame lower. To do this it is necessary to use a smaller diameter of back axle bevel gear, as at present adopted on the Goshawk, and EAC. 7., and with these a hypoid gear of approximately 1" out of centre for the 20HP., and 1¼" out of centre for the 40/50. Will you endeavour to get gears of this description of the most useful ratios. In EAC. 9. this has been done. We should treat the 20HP. the same. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
