Dear Major Cox, Regarding the Bentley which you may recall we bought from your goodselves some little time ago for one of our Directors, we are laying up the car for this Director at least for several months. Last week it was brought here by one of your people, and in view of the fact that it was going to be stored a memorandum giving some hints was handed to the Manager of our Garage. I enclose a copy of the memorandum for your possible information and would say that our people, and the Director in question in particular, are upset to see the reference to a competitor's oil in the concluding paragraph. I have the memorandum on front of me, and it would seem that originally it was drafted and printed without the concluding two lines. These lines are in different type, and different colour ink, andhave obviously been added at some subsequent date. The sting lies in the fact that the recommendation to use a competitor's oil should have been addressed to the Manufacturers of Motorines! In any case, of course, we feel that it is hardly fair to single out one particular oil for recommendation. The memorandum should have been left in its original form, that is without any reference to Mobiloil B.B. Frankly I am approaching your goodself because I have not the slightest idea which Department to approach to ventilate this little grievance of ours. Your friendly assistance, therefore, would be appreciated. In this connection I would mention that in January this year we had some interesting correspondence with Derby under this Ref.Hd{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy}/Sd9/MW.13.1.40.
