From Exp. Dept. Copies for: Mr Johnson Mr Royce. alpine AW/TSH19/L15413 April 15th. 1913 EXPERIMENTAL DEPT. "B" WEEKLY REPORT. [handwritten scribble 'Rle'] X.2 Double Rear Brakes. The gears have now been changed from No. 1 axle to No.2 axle and vice versa, but the No. 2 axle is not yet quietened. No. 1 axle which had a bad period is much better since being fitted with No. 2 gears and is quite a passable job. No. 2 axle also seems good as far as we can tell, but we cannot say definitely until it has been properly set for quietness. We must make more tests before being able to say anything more definite. X.58 Double helical gears to side shaft. (made by Citroen) These gears have now been fitted to a car and are being run. They are not quiet but scream rather badly, we propose to run them a little while to see if they quieten down and if they do not we shall try grinding them in. Grinding in is a great success on the helical timing wheels. Austrian Trials Cars X.219 These are still progressing and all are having the bodies fitted. All the cars should be complete for delivery by the end of the month. We are rather troubled by the throttle sticking. We have the annulus in the body and the grooves in the throttle piston. The annulus gets full of dust and the petrol flying about R.R. Ltd 'B' Dept. (Typing No. 1) 12 15-4-13 | ||
