(sheet 4). bearings in the box was to be altered to use the usual roller bearings in the box. (4) A modified design was to be made for experiment incorporating (1) a stiffer rocker shaft retaining the present needle roller bearing outside the box and parallel roller bearings inside the box. (2) preloading scheme for the cam using a Belleville washer and smaller Timken bearings, this latter being in order to allow the cams to be stiffened up to withstand the preloading. (Since this decision was made the position is altered somewhat because parallel roller bearings have been ordered for the cam (up to 50 sets), and, therefore, these are being incorporated in the modified design (N.Sch.4711), which can be used on the first 50 cars if justified by experiment. Also it has been found that the large type of Timken taper roller bearings to N.Sch.4554 have never been used and the question of a weak cam does not, therefore, arise as smaller Timken bearings 31c-32x have been instructed on N.Sch.4554. Phantom 3 Rear Stabiliser. Design to issue a scheme using silentbloc mounting. Undersheets. Design asked to see the type of undershields fitted up by GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} on 2.S.1. and which are reported satisfactory, with a view to releasing them for production. E/LIB. | ||
