(sheet 3) Carburetter and Induction Pipe. Agreed that the first 12 chassis should be built with the four carburetter scheme in order to enable them to get running. Position of Stromberg carburetters was not discussed. Clutch. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} stated that a "Borg and Beck" or "Long" type of clutch centre would be required. Gearbox. It was agreed to go slow on rear suspension parts pending an examination of the failed part by E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Design alteration might be required. Bonnet. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} stated that tests on the thermostatically operated bonnet was held up due to delay in obtaining thermostats from the makers. Steadman Big bore 20/25 HP. Induction System. This item was not discussed. Big Bore Bentley. Air silencer has been instructed. Exhaust system to be as present standard. WRAITH II This item was not discussed. Phantom 3 Steering. There was a discussion of considerable length on this item and the following points were decided. (1) E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} was to get into touch with Comr. Maltravers with a view to discussing the general problems in Derby. (2) Aluminium bronze steering box to be instructed for first 50 cars. Malleable iron box would possibly follow as the result of further investigations. (3) The experiment, now being put in hand, by Experimental Dept. of trying out a stiffer rocker shaft with plain | ||
